uhdeuidheuidhed@thelemmy.clubto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why do you think payment processors are restricting their policy to exclude pornographic content?6·5 hours agoThe ruling class deemed that’s what they need to do, so that’s what they do.
Personally, I think our rulers are getting upset that we’re not spitting out babies as much as we used to, so their offspring will have fewer servants to boss around.
It’s always acceptable to kill a rich person. Their culture and lifestyle results in magnitudes more death and suffering than if every rich person was hung.
uhdeuidheuidhed@thelemmy.clubto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why don't political assassinations happen anymore in the US?1·15 hours agoTo counter everyone saying “they do,” could you be referring to more high-profile cases?
Trump was shot at, but not killed. Would’ve made history if he was.
The US doesn’t have political assassinations on the level of say, Mexico, but they are frequent enough for someone to be able to point to them still happening. Usually it’s about some congressperson that we’ve never heard of.
I’m not sure if there’s greater protection based on the popularity of politicians. It would make sense if someone like AOC gets more protection than, well, someone we haven’t heard of.
uhdeuidheuidhed@thelemmy.clubto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How accurate are your predictions of the future?2·15 hours agoVery very bad.
I thought Hillary would win the 2016 election.

I’m glad that pretty much all of the artists I enjoy didn’t do anything like drug and rape women or come out in favor of oppressive nonsense (as far as we know.)
It doesn’t surprise me that the businessmen posing as artists routinely end up being pieces of shit. It’s always good for a laugh when the morons who liked their art find out for themselves.
I dunno about brita specifically, but my walmart water filter has served me well throughout the years.
Back when I moved in to a friend’s house and started drinking his tap water, I would get sick all the time. I knew it was the water, I could feel it. Every time I drank it, it tasted weird, metallic, and I could tell I was poisoning myself.
Ever since I started filtering it, I stopped getting sick. Haven’t looked back and have been drinking walmart-filtered tap water ever since.
Haven’t been sick in years, either.

That’s honestly all my money goes towards these days.
And utilities.
uhdeuidheuidhed@thelemmy.clubto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's something incredibly useful you can buy for roughly £100 or less?1·15 hours agoYou can get 4 months of Internet with Visible for only $25/month with unlimited data.
uhdeuidheuidhed@thelemmy.clubto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's something incredibly useful you can buy for roughly £100 or less?1·15 hours agoIt’s really just preference.
What you really should be looking for are “circumaural” headphones. These are headphones that cover your entire ear.
Whether you get open-back or closed-back is entirely up to you. Don’t let anyone convince you that one is strictly superior to the other.
They both have their benefits and detriments.
uhdeuidheuidhed@thelemmy.clubto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Are you a feminist? (If so why, if not why not?)11·16 hours agoBlack Lives Matter is a fine name for what it supports.
I didn’t study the etymology of feminism, but in practice it has always resulted in fighting for women’s rights while ignoring or paying lip-service to men’s rights.
There’s no feminist platform that advocates for removing men from the draft or including women in it, for example. I don’t believe that the differences between men and women, especially today, are great enough to give any preference to one sex over the other. Most of us are suffering because we are poor.
From my experience, feminists will say feminism is about equality to fool people who don’t know any better into supporting a cause that is practically about female superiority. They believe it’s woman’s turn to be the oppressors and to them that is ‘fair.’
This is exemplified by how it’s socially acceptable (even encouraged) to make disparaging comments about men, but making similar comments about women will get you ostracized. You can’t say you’re for equality of the sexes if you laugh when somebody says “I hate all men” but get angry if someone else says “I hate all women.” Neither is acceptable, but feminists will disagree.
uhdeuidheuidhed@thelemmy.clubto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Are you a feminist? (If so why, if not why not?)11·16 hours agoI’ll accept that feminism is about furthering the rights of women.
It’s not about equality, though, which is why we never hear feminists complaining about men in the draft.
It’s also a terrible word to use if it is about equality because it clearly favors one group over others. If you want to support equality, you should use a different word.
uhdeuidheuidhed@thelemmy.clubto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Are you a feminist? (If so why, if not why not?)13·16 hours agoNot really.
Black Lives Matter is a movement specifically to shed light on how cops abuse their power towards people of color and frequently go unpunished for it. Black Lives Matter is not about addressing how white people may suffer at the hands of police brutality and if you’re trying to argue that it is, then you’re either disingenuous or ignorant.
You do have a point though, where both feminism and Black Lives Matter focus on one group over people over others.
Great distinction.
uhdeuidheuidhed@thelemmy.clubto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Are you a feminist? (If so why, if not why not?)12·17 hours agoNo it’s not. It clearly favors one side, but then people are saying it’s about equality.
If whatever feminism is trying to describe is truly about equality, then we should use a term that isn’t biased.
uhdeuidheuidhed@thelemmy.clubto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Are you a feminist? (If so why, if not why not?)11·17 hours agoThere should be a different word that doesn’t favor one side if it’s about equality.
Anyone who is tired of people misconstruing the meaning of the word ‘feminism’ should be trying to find a better word that means what they are trying to convey.
uhdeuidheuidhed@thelemmy.clubto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Are you a feminist? (If so why, if not why not?)11·17 hours agoWhat is this referring to?
How dairy cows need to be pregnant in order to produce milk, so they’re artificially inseminated and kept pregnant throughout most of their lives?
uhdeuidheuidhed@thelemmy.clubto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Are you a feminist? (If so why, if not why not?)21·17 hours agoIt’s a really shit word to use if it’s supposed to mean equality.
Are there any other words we can use to replace feminism that doesn’t show bias towards one side?
uhdeuidheuidhed@thelemmy.clubto Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Are you a feminist? (If so why, if not why not?)2·17 hours agoThomas Sankara was a true hero that was killed because he dared to threaten the status quo of “haves and have-nots.”
Episode 0. I’ve never seen it, but it seems like the kind of dumb normie-show that I wouldn’t like. I base this solely off of all the morons I see that went apeshit over it when it came out.
Instead, treat yourself to some high-brow art like Undone. You probably haven’t heard about it because it’s an Amazon Prime exclusive, and most of the idiots today “consuming” digital entertainment have been conditioned to only see what’s a part of their paid streaming service(s).
Since we’re smarter than the average idiot, we can stream it for free here: https://hydrahd.io/ No account or credit card info required, but you will need an adblocker (which you should already have, but many morons complain about ads to this day without realizing adblockers exist.)
