Oh come on now, the dems give everyone on their side a pass. Look at Al Franken, what he did was way worse than anything in the Epstein files and got off scott free.
Er, wait…that is what happened, right?
I have fleas. https://www.snand.org/

It is, but I’m ready to officially throw in the towel and embrace the fact that running your own hardware is not much more than a hobby these days. I’ve preached and preached the value of multi or hybrid cloud, only for the people with money to pour it down the same hole time and time again.
I’ve always said IT is essentially an entirely CYA driven industry. Having someone to blame is more valuable for them than uptime, and if they can show their outages, even if the numbers suck, was not their fault (easy to do when all your competitors are down at the same time), it’s all good…
Update- lol, YouTube is currently down.

I mean, the reason is that it’s one of the main ingredients of mirepoix, and most people don’t find it offensive. It’s one of those background flavors that you don’t pick out, but is part of the typical base.
What I’m getting at is that if you don’t like it, just don’t use it. It’s there because whoever made it, decided to put it in.
Now, I’m sure there are all kinds of explanations about the enzymes, and the fiber and so on, but it’s soup, doesn’t have to be complicated. Just delicious :)

Celery is genuinely one of my favorite parts of soups that use them. I LOVE the flavor or celery, and it is even better when it picks up the rest of the flavors of the dish.
To answer yours and the other questions about “why this ingredient”, the answer is very simple. Some people like it.
If you don’t, then don’t use it, problem solved.

Man it’s fallen off a cliff. Many years ago I bought a knockoff Chinese messenger bag from Amazon. It’s fantastic, great materials, good quality zipper, it’s held up to daily use for years and looks even better than when I got it (leather developed a nice patina).
So, I needed another bag, went looking for the same brand as mine. No longer there, but there are 75 identical looking but weirdly named brands instead. I found one that looked as similar as I could to my old bag, and this one is an utter piece of shit. I mean, I’ll use it, it’s a duffle bag so not as much use as the messenger bag, but the difference is stark. Stiff, cheap cloth, leather sure, but probably harvested entirely from cow buttholes, zippers look brass, but one zip and the color wore off…
Everything, even purchased goods have enshittified. Everything looks cool but just absolutely sucks.
It’s ironic how so many of us find ourselves being extremely valuable for the exact reasons they can’t stand us. As IT, I’m used to being seen as nothing more than red marks on a budget to the folks making decisions. The only thing they hate more than listening to us, is when they have to.
Kinda got a chip on my shoulder today it seems.
Yep, this is the culture I keep running head first into as I try to level up my career.

Bingo. They are breathtakingly low maintenance once you use them.
OP, use what you like, that’s the only trick. If you force yourself to use the “right” stuff, you will get annoyed and stop using them. Use them, find out what works and enjoy.
I started with a set of basic target brand non-stick. I mostly use cast iron and stainless steel now (been doing this for 30 years). I do keep a non-stick for eggs and such, but it’s the least used pan I have.

Best site on the internet. I was so worried when flash died, big sigh of relief when they went html5.
I just absolutely love this comment, especially the dismissive bit at the end. Damn fine nerding my friend.

I work with John, my role is as the replacement for another John. I’m trying to be open and fix the issues, but they just want John back, and the other John who’s here, is so territorial, even when I try to help, he just tries to undermine and fight me.
Fucking John.
I’m in the same boat. I love that it makes self hosting easier for me. It does what I need and even gives me a small extra measure of security. I admit, I use it because I’m lazy, I could do it without Cloudflare and do for some services. So, I figure if it truly becomes urgent or intolerable I can drop it from the stack.

which is a nonconformist
Thank you for this, it puts it in terms that make a lot of sense. This really helps explain a phenomenon I see so often. I know a few folks who are certainly not pro-trump, but are very anti-political. I’ve been told that I need to shut up, and things would be fine once the next election rolls around.
These folks might not like what’s happening, but they are fine conforming to it.
Maybe it’s a me problem, but I think it’s going to take a little more work than the bare minimum.
Nah, I mean that even thought they look so picture perfect, my brain just doesn’t see them as real, and parks them in the same category as a cartoon.
Whereas a practical effect, might look hilariously bad, but sometime a jello filled, papier-mache head exploding, is the perfect amount of gore to make me wince.
My theory is that since practical effects ultimately rely on physics of the world we occupy, that despite their unpolished look, they feel more real. The hyper realistic, but completely reality breaking effects of today just hit the same way cartoons do.
Speaking of cartoons, I love finding the shortcuts that animators would take, there’s something so artistic about how they did it.
I am just so much more engaged when I can watch a movie while also trying to figure out how they pulled off an effect.

I like ‘sloppers’ as a term for the morons distrubing and consuming the shit that the clankers are excreting.
Same. I adore my wife, fall more in love with her every day we’re together. It’s not always easy, but things that are worth it aren’t. Marriage is the best decision I ever made.
I did get married a little later than some, just had turned 30 the month before we tied the knot. Maybe taking my time and finding the right one helped, not sure. Just knew it was her almost right away.
