Either abstract, for lack of a better word, (like software/info-related) or non-abstract (physical tools/resources).
Something that I’d like to see is basically something similar to “Anime Plus” but for GameFAQs.
If you are not familiar with Anime Plus, it’s essentially a companion app for MyAnimeList. You put your MAL account in and it generates a temporary profile for you that contains several useful features, such as a list of anime/manga that you may have missed and recommendations for other anime/manga.
We daily carry tech that makes the devices in digimon look like calculators. Where’s my unique personality practical use pocket pet to protect my digital world while I protect it’s physical world?
An easy privacy Tool, where every app/site is locked inside a container and you can use it, but it don’t get your data…
A Haxe like compiler except it uses Rust like traits rather than java like classes. It compiles to an intermediate language thats basically assembly but for high level languages and then into your language of choice.
Gender changing potion
A classic choice!
This sounds dumb as all heck but a Fediverse equivalent of LinkedIn. Not some corporate hellscape, but something geared towards semi-pro or hobbyists who are looking for collaborative projects. It would serve as a portfolio and a way to group up and network.
So for example, you’re a YouTuber who is looking for an editor. Its not career pay but its a paid side gig. Or maybe you’re an audio guy and are looking to get into the film industry, and want to see if there are local indie films looking for your skills.
There are ‘services’ for these but they’re either adapted from something else (like Reddit or Facebook) or they have some aggressive middleman monetization. And many basically require you to host your portfolio elsewhere, which is sometimes funky to run your own hosting.
Neighbourhood tool cooperative. Some tools I use once or twice a year. It would be nice if a garage in the neighbourhood would have them to borrow.
Check your local library! Mine has one.
So cool.
This seems like something you could organize.
A torrent swarm of all the government and court documents that parasites like Lexus Nexus paywall. There is no excuse to not have access to government info online and free. If I understand correctly, some states even have the state statutes (aka laws) hidden behind such paywalls.
Room temp superconductors, would be amazing for maglev trains and the electric grid
Basically a material that doesn’t have electrical resistance and has some funky magnetic properties but works at normal temperatures
More libraries for more things, physical and digital. Some traditional libraries have expanded to other media, tools, etc but it’s really just scratching the surface on community sharing of reusable resources, mostly limited by funding for staff and space for public libraries.
Access to resources for scientific reproducibility studies. Publish or perish models are based around publishing novel research in for profit journals. Peer reviews generally do not reproduce the study or experiment as they are not paid for that work and can only review the paper on it’s merits itself. This leads to bad actors who submit research that can get past review and remain cited for potential years before someone attempts to and fails to reproduce their work, and it’s getting worse with for example comp sci research not including publishing code or software projects with their research. If there were a way to fund reproducibility studies you could open a new path for a scientifically trained workforce and improve the quality of available research in general.
And on scientific research for profit peer review journals themselves. They could be replaced by nonprofit organizations relying on more digital spaces like arXive.org or sci-hub to add credential and public review on top of available research, but nothing has been reputable enough to really break past mass adoption in most scientific fields.
A tool or an app, where you could make using an electronic device much easier. Where you could completely rebuild the interface of any tech, tool or an app, where you could make using an electronic device much easier. Where you could completely rebuild the interface in a way was a logical to you ,simply by voice.
That wasn’t real clearly explained. Let me do it a different way. For example Apple play on a car in order to get it to play. Apple Music sometimes is multiple . Yet maybe that’s the only thing I use. I should be able to redesign the interface to make it more user-friendly. Or things on an iPhone or an android phone or a tablet or whatever I should be able to redesign it simply by voice. Simplyby telling it hey I want this icon over there or I want an icon that does this.
Dead-easy, beautiful web apps so groups can quickly and easily vote using Ranked-Choice Voting or Majority Judgement (with or without uncertainty). Something FLOSS with reproducible builds, to build trust in the software.
Automated systems (could be an app 🤷♂️) to go from a textbook, a YouTube video, or a web course to a comprehensive set of spaced and interleaved quizzes and flashcards.
