This June I did probably the craziest thing in my life and flew to Bangkok from Germany on a whim with just 500 euros in my pocket. I always dreamed of doing this, I was obsessed with YouTube travel videos as a teen, but I never thought I’d actually get to do it myself. I’ve never felt more free, nervous, and satisfied with life all at the same time, lmao. I’m currently in Busan, so these are my midnight thoughts. I know this kind of life isn’t for everyone, so I’m very curious what everyone thinks.

If you give me the funds
It costs about $500 USD per month to live abroad in most countries, a very financially attainable level, especially for fluent English speakers.
In monaco: per day
Monaco is 2500 a month for a cramped urban hellscape, definitely not somewhere i’d recommend.
Blech, good call out as a warning to travelers.
Maybe backpacking through and stopping at the museums could be interesting.
500 USD per what?
Per month, thanks, fixed.
You fixed the economy?
He’s the messiah 😳
Don’t need to.
Living abroad(rent, utilities, wifi, groceries) is a lot cheaper than most people expect.
$500 USD per month in most countries, $1000 in the others.
Does that include services like health care, insurance, etc?
Rent, utilities, wifi, groceries don’t automatically include health care or insurance, although they certainly can be included in a $500 budget depending on your circumstances.
Insurance can be an extra $10-20 per month but I find it largely unnecessary with the availability and affordability of medical services abroad; most medications and procedures are pennies on the US dollar for equal or better quality and care.
I know. I’m not from ‘the west’.
