I think it would be neat to have states conglomerate around shared bioregions. Like a new country made up of the Great Lakes states, for example. Maybe add some Canadian provinces too? Like if you made the Great Lakes Charter into a country

A Libertarian Walks Into a Bear is a great story about those libertarians that flocked to NH

It’s Wikipedia, anyone can edit it to revert the change. Be the change you wanna see in the world

If you like or care about clean energy, I’m a fan of Volts with David Roberts

A gun is useful tool for acquiring meat in a sustainable way. Shout out to venison!
I am a trans woman. There are a lot of armed right wingers that would love to see me dead. They can try, but I’m not going to give them an easy time of it.

It’s possible that noise and popping you hear is the steam in the radiator flashing back and forth from steam to condensation. It means the condensate isn’t draining properly. This is not a problem you can fix yourself. You need to tell the building manager, who needs to hire a pipefitter. If you try to do this yourself, there is a high likelihood that you will damage something beyond your ability to repair, and you could very well seriously burn yourself while you’re at it.

Yeah, if only I had gotten an older model of iPhone 3 years ago, then all my student loans would be gone! /s

I was initially impressed when ChatGPT and Midjourney came out and I was playing around with them. But the novelty quickly wore off, and as I learned more about the flaws in how they operate and the negative environmental effects, the more I came to dislike it. Now, I actively hate and avoid AI.

I wouldn’t say trades are king, just that they’re more in demand than some of the more popular degrees in recent years, like CS.
An engineering or technology degree in a trades-adjacent field could be really beneficial, especially for someone how already has relevant hands-on experience. Something like controls, building automation, etc, might be a really good option for OP to build on what they already know

Movements take time to build momentum. The first protest isn’t going to immediately solve everything. But this is how change starts to happen. People start getting more comfortable going to protests, maybe they bring a friend next time. People make connections to other organizations and activists at protests that can help them do more after the protest is over.
And it’s a sign that, despite the amount of power as he’s already seized, and as much as he might not like it, he can’t stop millions of people peacefully protesting against him.
And Trump makes fun of a lot of things. I don’t give his word any credit on any other topic, why would this be any different?

I agree he has no intentions of leaving office, but neither of his sons have the charisma to carry on the cult of personality. Whenever and however he dies, there is going to be a massive power struggle that ensures, and I don’t know if there’s anyone that can pull off being the sole inheritor of the MAGA movement

If you haven’t yet, I recommend checking out Soulseek

I’m an energy engineer, so coding isn’t the main part of job, but I use Python a lot for data analysis. So I load CSV files and reformat the data into how a particular program or person wants it. I also dabble with SQL and PowerShell for configuring data pipelines, basically picking a subset of data out of a database and using PowerShell to automate that extraction and the upload to a server.

It hasn’t happened yet, but I’m pretty sure they’ll disown me whenever I tell them I’m trans.

Yeah, nutomic and some of their statements were a significant factor motivating my switch from Lemmy to Piefed. I’m glad we have the option here on Blahaj, and shout out to the Voyager dev for adding Piefed support!

Almost always yes, it is a scam. Theoretically, it’s a hedge against inflation, but in practice, it’s just grifters selling it to paranoid right wingers
