I created this community https://hilariouschaos.com/c/ComicStrips just a few hours back. When l’m trying to search for this community from this account and my other lemmy accounts, this particular community is not showing up. However, when I’m trying to make a post to this community by copy pasting the URL in this body section, it’s landing me directly on the page and accepting my post as that of the moderator’s, which is me of course.

Can anybody please tell me what is wrong over here ?

Hilarious chaos is widely regarded as a nazi server, so it has a lot of defeds, they post a lot of antitrans content and it’s not against the rules, you may want to try another instance.

Hey, firstly thanks for starting a community on our little instance - we are glad to have you!

I have used lemmy-federate.com on your behalf to federate it more broadly.

Regarding your issue, Lemmy can get a bit confused when you’re logged into multiple instances from the same browser. Your best bet is to clear cache and try again.

Edit: Just read some of the other comments, lemmy.ml and some others do indeed de-federate us, which is why you won’t see the community from there.

Thank you for getting back to me. In this thread, if you scroll, l have learnt that many instances have defederated from hilariouschaos. Now I don’t know the history, but since I deal with comics, l do hope that users from other instances can access the contents easily. Thanks once again.

It’s true, some instances do de-federate us. Not all, hence I can talk to you here, but some do.

As an instance we do not suppress content based on political views, and this rubs many people the wrong way. I can’t change what they do and I can’t change their minds either, so it is what it is unfortunately.

Just 1 more request… Now that you’re sure that l’m not a bot but very much a human being like you, please allow me to post as many comics as possible in the community, as l have a lot of back up to make. And l do hope that from your end, my content gets federated.

People are not very kind to my content 😔😔, even though they’re not of the typical nsfw category 🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴

Definitely, post as much as you like, it will federate automatically to all the linked instances.

A word of advice is to stagger the content a bit (e.g. give it 10-20 minutes between posts) - I personally don’t care but other admins might perceive posting too much, too quickly as spam. You or your community can still be banned locally on other instances.

I can understand that. I’ve been facing a lot of criticisms for posting comics like Archies. Many people have complained that l’m running a bot account on programming.dev and also on ml. The admin of programming.dev wrote to me personally, but the admin of ComicsStrips@sh.itjust.works banned my programming.dev account

Is the community l have created on your instance found in the search bar here ?

People can be pretty quick to jump the trigger on this stuff, I got a report about you being a bot too. It’s all a bit silly.

Yes it can, I can see it pop up in the lemmy.world search just fine. Federation is a bit wonky at first but now that it has been linked, it should be relatively smooth sailing.

I think that instance is defederated by some instances? Check that first.

Any given instance (A) knows about all communities that have at least one subscriber on A. Maybe it doesn’t have any subscribers on the instance you’re trying to see it from yet, in which case try subscribing to it by searching for its exact name.

Many. They are considered a spiritual successor to the right-wing troll instance of explodingheads.com. just consider for a moment. Which a group of people think causing chaos is hilarious?

Does your local instance know about that community? By pasting the whole URL into the search field, then subscribing to it? If nothing has been federated yet, the instance won’t show it because it doesn’t know about it.

There are site with tools to view federation status, but I don’t know any off the top of my head.

In trouble shooting it always important to answer at least these questions when asking for help:

    • What are you trying to achieve, eg what is the end result you are hoping for.
    • What is the expected behavior, or how do you think it should work?
    • What is the experience behavior, so what actually happens and how does that differ from what you expected.
    • What steps have you taken in trouble shooting. Are there things you’ve checked or ruled out? How so? What did you try?
    • Any background you think is relevant, so which software, hardware, versions, urls etc.

This will help other people help you quickly and efficiently. This will greatly improve your chance of other people being able to help you, or you being able to help yourself.
